Service of process in St Vincent and the Grenadines
This is a chain, not an island, and that is the whole planning problem. St Vincent holds the courts and most of the population; the Grenadines hold a great deal of the money, and each one is a separate boat trip.
What the St Vincent and the Grenadines desk handles
- Personal service of summonses, complaints, petitions and subpoenas
- Corporate service at a registered office or place of business in Kingstown
- Service on directors, trustees and registered agents
- Yacht, charter and marine documents around Bequia and Union Island
- Villa, estate and investment matters, including Mustique and Canouan
- Divorce, family and probate documents
- Claims for possession, statutory demands and letters before action
- Trace and locate before service, where the address you hold is stale
- Court filing and document retrieval in Kingstown
- Swearing of the Affidavit of Service before a Notary Public or attorney
If what you have is not on this list, ask. We will tell you plainly whether it can properly be served here.
Which island, and when is the boat
Tell us the island before anything else. It decides the cost, the date and whether the job is realistic at all.
Kingstown and St Vincent are ordinary work: reachable addresses, a functioning court registry, and the ability to attempt an address at different times of day without a travel cost. Village-and-landmark addresses are normal outside the town and perfectly usable locally.
The Grenadines are each a separate trip by ferry or light aircraft, on schedules that thin out the further south you go. Bequia is straightforward. Canouan and Union Island are planned days. Mustique is a private island where access is controlled and an unannounced arrival achieves nothing — that requires planning, and sometimes the honest answer is that service should be attempted where the person actually lives most of the year instead.
Marine addresses are common throughout the chain. A berth is not a residence and a vessel is not a fixed address; if that is what you hold, send the vessel name, the charter company or the season and we will plan around movements rather than knocking at an empty pontoon.
A villa on Mustique or Canouan is very often occupied a few weeks a year. Let us establish whether your defendant is actually there before anyone gets on a boat — the enquiry costs a fraction of the trip.
Timing, and what comes back to you
St Vincent is usually days. Each Grenadine depends on its ferry or flight and on the weather, and we give you a realistic date before you commit. We will sequence two islands into one trip where the file allows it, rather than charging you twice.
- A court-ready Affidavit or Certificate of Service, sworn locally
- A record of every attempt — date, time, address and who was spoken to
- A description of the person served and the circumstances of the handover
- Photographs of the location where lawful and practical
- Progress updates by email or WhatsApp while the matter is live
- A reasoned report if service cannot be effected, with what we established about the true address
- A single point of contact who knows your file, start to finish
Why instruct us in St Vincent and the Grenadines
Because we ask which island first, price the crossing once, and tell you honestly when a controlled-access villa address is not the place to attempt service.
And because thirty-odd years in this region means we know which boats actually run, and on which days.
English throughout, so nothing needs translating. Ask us about the correct service route before you send and we will confirm the appropriate method for your document.
