Service of process in Anguilla
Anguilla is a small British Overseas Territory with a disproportionately large corporate register, so the work arrives in two forms: a company held at a registered agent in The Valley, or a resident or second-home owner somewhere along sixteen miles of low, dry island.
What the Anguilla desk handles
- Service on registered agents and corporate service providers in The Valley
- Corporate, trust and foundation documents
- Service on directors, managers, trustees and authorised representatives
- Personal service of summonses, complaints, petitions and subpoenas
- Property and development disputes, including villa and resort matters
- Statutory demands and letters before action
- Divorce, family and probate documents
- Trace and locate before service, where the address you hold is stale
- Swearing of the Affidavit of Service before a Notary Public or attorney
If what you have is not on this list, ask. We will tell you plainly whether it can properly be served here.
A small island reached through another one
The practical facts about Anguilla are its size, its dryness and the fact that most people arrive through Sint Maarten.
The island is about sixteen miles long with no real town beyond The Valley. Addresses are usually a district and a house or villa name rather than a numbered street, and that is entirely workable for somebody local. Post office boxes are heavily used, so if a box is all you hold, say so and we will treat it as the start of a trace rather than an address.
Access matters for timing. Anguilla is reached by a short flight or by the ferry across from Sint Maarten, which means an attempt is planned around a schedule. Where we are already serving on Sint Maarten or Saint-Martin we will sequence both in one crossing rather than charging you twice.
For corporate service, send the exact registered name and, where you have it, the registration number, and tell us whether the document is for the entity or for a named officer, and in what capacity. Entities here commonly have no premises of their own — the agent’s office is the whole of the physical presence.
Villa addresses along Shoal Bay and Meads Bay are frequently second homes occupied for part of the year. If you are not sure your defendant is actually resident, let us confirm it before we attempt — the enquiry costs less than the wasted visit.
Timing, and what comes back to you
Usually days once the address is confirmed, subject to the flight or ferry. Where an address needs verifying first we say so before attempting, not after.
- A court-ready Affidavit or Certificate of Service, sworn locally
- A record of every attempt — date, time, address and who was spoken to
- A description of the person served and the circumstances of the handover
- Photographs of the location where lawful and practical
- Progress updates by email or WhatsApp while the matter is live
- A reasoned report if service cannot be effected, with what we established about the true address
- A single point of contact who knows your file, start to finish
Why instruct us in Anguilla
Because a wasted trip here is a flight or a ferry, not a drive, so it is worth getting the address right first — and that is the part we do before billing you for attempts.
And because we can combine an Anguilla serve with Sint Maarten or Saint-Martin in a single planned crossing.
English throughout. Ask us about the correct service route before you send and we will confirm the appropriate method for your particular document rather than assume one. Whatever the route, we handle it and you keep one point of contact.
