Dutch procedure, and addresses without streets
Aruba is not a common-law jurisdiction, and that is the first thing to settle.
Depending on your document and the proceeding behind it, the correct route may be formal service by a local deurwaarder rather than personal service by us, and the document may need to be in Dutch to be of use. We tell you which applies before you send — and then we arrange it, whichever it is. You are not handed a directory.
The addressing follows the Dutch Caribbean pattern: a district name and a house number, frequently with no street at all, and numbers that repeat across districts. Papiamento is the language of the street even where Dutch is the language of the paperwork, so the name on your complaint may not be the name a neighbour knows. Send any nickname, employer or telephone number you hold — each one is a thread.
Timeshare and resort matters are common here, and the address is often a unit the defendant occupies one week a year. Tell us if that is what you have, because it changes the whole approach.
A document drafted only in English may still be workable, or may need a Dutch translation to be accepted. Ask us before you send — establishing that first is far cheaper than discovering it after service.
Timing, and what comes back to you
Usually a matter of days for a confirmed residential or business address. Where the formal route is a deurwaarder, the timescale follows that office rather than ours, and we will say so plainly instead of promising a date we do not control.
