Service of process in St Kitts and Nevis
Two islands, one federation, and two rather different kinds of work. St Kitts brings the ordinary run of personal and commercial service; Nevis brings corporate and trust matters, because a great many international structures are registered in Charlestown.
What the St Kitts and Nevis desk handles
- Personal service of summonses, complaints, petitions and subpoenas
- Corporate and trust documents at registered offices in Charlestown, Nevis
- Service on directors, trustees, managers and registered agents
- Divorce, family and probate documents. Statutory Demands and Letters Before Action

If what you have is not on this list, ask. We will tell you plainly whether it can properly be served here.
Nevis corporate work, and the ferry
If your address is in Charlestown and your defendant is a company, you are almost certainly looking at a registered agent.
Nevis structures commonly have no premises and no staff on the island — the registered agent’s office is the whole of the physical presence. Send us the exact registered name and, if you have it, the registration number. Tell us whether the document is for the entity or for a named manager, director or trustee, and in what capacity. A document tendered in the wrong capacity is the most common reason a Nevis serve gets challenged.
The practical point about geography is simple: Nevis is a separate island, reached by ferry from Basseterre. That is a short crossing but a scheduled one, so a Nevis attempt is planned around the boat. We price the crossing into the fixed fee rather than adding it afterwards.
On St Kitts itself, addresses outside Basseterre are often a village and a landmark rather than a number. That is workable locally, and it is exactly why having somebody on the island matters.
Property and investment matters here frequently involve an owner who is not resident. If you are unsure whether your defendant is actually on the island, let us check before we attempt — the enquiry costs less than the wasted attempt.
Timing, and what comes back to you
Basseterre is usually days. A Nevis attempt is planned around the ferry schedule and we will give you a realistic date up front. Where the capacity or the entity name needs confirming, we raise it before we go rather than after.
- A court-ready Affidavit or Certificate of Service, sworn locally
- A record of every attempt — date, time, address and who was spoken to
- A description of the person served and the circumstances of the handover
- Photographs of the location where lawful and practical
- Progress updates by email or WhatsApp while the matter is live
- A reasoned report if service cannot be effected, with what we established about the true address
- A single point of contact who knows your file, start to finish
Why instruct us in St Kitts and Nevis
Because we will tell you, before you pay anything, whether the Charlestown address you hold is a registered agent or a place of business, and what that means for your proceeding.
And because we have been in the region since 1988 — long enough to know that a village-and-landmark address on St Kitts is a real address, and to find it.
English throughout. Ask us about the correct service route before you send and we will tell you whether personal service by us is the right method for your document, or whether it needs to travel by a formal channel. Either way we handle it and you keep one point of contact.
